When asked by Bath Spa University to design a new dust extraction system to serve their Theatre Production School we were presented with the common dilemma of trying to integrate a system capable of extracting at medium pressure through small diameter hoses serving hand tools with a system designed to extract at low pressure from floor standing woodworking equipment.

The Inteliair™ intelligent control system came to our rescue, through its ability to automatically close off positions not in use combined with its capability of zoning areas we have been able to configure a system incorporating a dust filtration unit with integral low pressure (-2.5kPa) fan capable of extracting from the floor standing machines with a medium pressure (-9kPa) fan configured in a Zone to serve the hand tool extract points. The medium pressure fan exhausts into the main duct connecting to the dust filtration unit, the medium pressure fan and the dust filtration unit are both configured to operate at a speed dependent upon demand.

The net result is we have been able to design and install a dust filtration system capable of serving both low and medium pressure extraction points through one filter unit with the main motor speeds varying in response to demand and as such not only has the Inteliair™ system enabled us to reduce the capital cost of serving this application but also significantly reduces our customers running costs.
